Speaking

With a series of words in the message area select Speak. Assuming the Microsoft Speech Engine is present a synthetic voice will pronounce the words.

This engine is automatically present in Windows 2000 and later.

If you don't like the default voices in Windows you can purchase voices from

www.cepstral.com/demos

for about $35.

If the line to speak in the message area contains an equal sign '=', then the part to the left will be pronounced like the part to the right. This can be used to 'teach' the speech engine to pronounce a word or words phonetically.

ALICIA=ALEESHA
GHOTI=FISH thanks to George Bernard Shaw!
