MailMe is an email service written specifically for Sue Center. It sends you a letter containing various categories of information from the web.
Choose Cmd > MailMe, select a category and types, and MailMe will select at random for you. There is a certain charm and fun in seeing what it chooses for you.
These are the current categories:
When choosing the types you can select more than one type before choosing Send and can UNselect a type by simply choosing it again. Note that fortunes do not require a type selection.
Since this kind of email tends to accumulate and it would be a chore to delete them one by one you can delete them all at once by choosing 'Clear MailMe' in the Inbox.
You can be a 'MailMe Power User' by putting a digit in the message area before making the request. This number will be used as a multiplier so you can, for example, ask for 3 pictures of Children in one fell swoop. Or you could ask for 9 pictures of Portraits, Travel and Flowers and end up with 27 pictures in all. Such a letter will take a longer time to get, of course.
MailMe tries to not send you the same item twice. You can clear its memory by entering 'Reset MailMe' and choosing 'Go'.
To be an 'Advanced MailMe Power User' you can put a mailme command in the message area and choose 'Go'. Like this:
This will mail you a Cartoon of type 'Young'. The type you ask for _must_ be one of the known Cartoon types which you can see by choosing Cmd > MailMe > Cartoons.
These commands are understood:
You can put a digit after the command to get multiple items. So if you enter this:
and choose 'Go' you'll be mailed 3 quotations about 'Art'. Note that 'Art' is one of the known types of Quotations. You can't do this:
because 'Peace' is not a known quote type.
You only need put a unique prefix of the type.
This will send news of the U.S. and the World.
Pictures have an additional feature that is very cool.
This will search for a picture of a kitten on photo.net and mail it to you. This works because if the type of picture you ask for is not one of the known fixed types the term you give will be used to search the _descriptions_ of the pictures.
This gives 5 pictures of waterfalls.
With this feature you can find a a picture of (nearly) whatever you can imagine.
photo.net has a very large and excellent quality collection of pictures of EVERYTHING.
If you abbreviate:
as
then you can find 5 pictures of anything very easily.
For maximum efficiency you can abbreviate:
as
and then you don't even have to choose 'Go' to get your horoscopes!
To get your local weather you only need enter this:
