Hello Everyone,

I last wrote to this mailing list when I was in Georgia in October 2022 canvassing for Stacey Abrams and Rafael Warnock.

Many things have happened in the political and legal world since then and the time is ripe for me to write again.

Please let me know if you don’t want to be on this list.

I am now in Aspen, Colorado. I took the train and arrived around noon today.

I have tickets for two events in the Aspen Ideas Festival:

I was alerted to these events by Sarah Longwell and George Conway. Here is a video of them discussing the debate (which is happening on Thursday, June 27 - tomorrow!):

The first event is basically a debate watch party and Sarah Longwell will be on the panel.

And the second one is entitled The Court Decides.

It’s about the important Supreme Court decisions that will likely happen this week. George Conway is on that panel.

Sarah Longwell is a brilliant political strategist. She does focus groups of people who voted for Trump before but cannot bring themselves to vote for him again. She has a PAC entitled ‘Republican Voters Against Trump’. I reluctantly give money to politicians for their campaigns but I was moved to donate to her PAC: https://rvat.org. I like the message they are offering and more importantly their messengers are actual voters who cannot vote for Trump again.

George Conway was the former husband of KellyAnne Conway - the alternative facts lady. They are divorced now and George is very much focused on getting Biden elected. He is often on MSNBC and CNN offering his legal perspective.

Aspen, Colorado is a very exclusive ritzy ski resort. The price of real estate here is ridiculous. Most workers commute in from nearby towns. A bus driver today said that many homes are unoccupied because they are 2nd or 3rd (or 4th) homes for people.

The Aspen Ideas Festival covers many different topics - not just politics.

Each ticket I got cost $200! I am feeling a class struggle. I resist joining the wealthy here. I have the cheapest AirBnB I could find ($300 a night!) and as a kind of protest will ride a bicycle back and forth to the events.

I can’t believe that rump has a chance to win the election. It baffles me.

I’m very curious what kind of questions will be asked at the “debate”.

I fully expect Trump will be disruptive (even with the microphones cut off) and will blather like an uncivilized ass.
