Hello Everybody,

On January 10, 2021 (4 days after January 6th) I wrote:

On December 5, 2022 I wrote: And now one of them is here. The Manhattan case (hush money - campaign finance) is not the most momentous or strongest one. The Georgia one will likely be next and then hopefully Jack Smith will be ready to prosecute Trump for the stolen documents and the incitement of the Jan 6 insurrection.

To help understand the hush money case I recommend listening to a podcast by Andrew Weissmann and Mary McCord. It is an hour long. It is well worth listening to all of it:

One question I have is - why is the next court date December 4th? That is SO far off! If you don't have time to listen to the entire podcast I excerpted 10 minutes of it where Andrew and Mary explain the scheduling: Another resource is the Mea Culpa podcast with Michael Cohen and his guest, Norm Eisen. It is long - an hour and a half - but rather entertaining and enlightening. Michael is, of course, the “star witness” for the Manhattan case. He pled guilty and has done jail time for the exact same crime that Trump is being charged. He paid hush money to the porn star to be quiet about the affair just before the 2016 election. One thing they discuss is why Trump has not yet been gagged and silenced. Just hours after he was warned to "be good" and not enflame/incite the MAGA crowd what does Trump do? He goes back to Mar-a-Lago and spews his usual ridiculous litany of lies and attacks - including disparaging the judge, the judge’s wife and their daughter! Michael and Norm discuss this. Michael with his usual colorful direct language and Norm with his patient wise counsel. Here is a 9 minute excerpt: Republicans (FoxNews, Tucker, Sean, Laura, Ted Cruz, Jim Jordan, MTG, etc etc) will defend Trump with their usual Whataboutism and False Equivalencies.

Here is John Oliver with a brilliant explanation of Whataboutism:

Be well,
Jon
